In Frankfurt am Main verankert, behauptet er mit seiner künstle-rischen Arbeit ein selbstbestimmtes und politisches Theater. Seit den 1970er Jahren erregte Willy Praml Aufsehen durch die Erpro-bung neuer theatraler Formen mit Lehrlingen, im ländlichen Raum und mit dem „Faust 1 & 2“ in der Frankfurter Paulskirche. Nach-dem sein Theaterkollektiv 2000 in einem Industriedenkmal in der Main-Metropole, der Naxoshalle, seine Heimat fand, inszeniert das „Theater Willy Praml“ dort Gesamtkunstwerke, literarisch so-wie musikalisch und immer wieder auch interkulturell mit Geflüch-teten. Mittlerweile ist aus dem Provisorium ein Produktionshaus geworden. Mit Wolfgang Schneider als Herausgeber beschreiben und re-flektieren Matthias Bischoff, Julia Cloot, Eva-Maria Magel, Hanne Seitz, Judith von Sternburg und Kristin Westphal als Autorinnen und Autoren aus Feuilleton und Wissenschaft in ihren Beiträgen fünfzig Jahre dieser Theatergeschichte - einer permanenten künst-lerischen Auseinandersetzung mit der sozialen Wirklichkeit.
